Manager: Land Reforms and Transactions (Property Management)

Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality is located on the east coast of the Eastern Cape province. The municipality serves the areas of East London, Bhisho, and Qonce, as well as the townships of Mdantsane and Zwelitsha. We are seeking a qualified professional to join our Property Management division.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A University Degree in Real Estate, Public Administration, or Law.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least four (4) years of professional experience in land administration.

Key Responsibilities

As the Manager of Land Reforms and Transactions, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the registration of townships and property transfers at the deeds office.
  • Providing strategic leadership and direction for the division.
  • Coordinating land restitution claims within the Buffalo City Municipal area.
  • Managing the upgrading of existing land tenure systems.
  • Preparing and submitting regular progress reports to the General Manager and relevant committees.
  • Implementing council resolutions regarding spatial planning and development.
  • Taking active measures to prevent illegal land occupation and land invasions.
  • Representing the department at internal and external meetings with ward committees and stakeholders.
  • Supervising staff, managing performance, and resolving workplace disputes within the division.
