About the Position

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is looking for a dedicated Manager for Stakeholder Relations. In this role, you will lead the strategy for how our organization interacts with partners and the public. You will be responsible for building strong relationships, ensuring fair practices, and managing the overall business plan for the Stakeholder Relations unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Stakeholder Relations, International Relations, or a related field (NQF Level 7).
  • Work Experience: At least 10 years of experience in Stakeholder Relations.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

  • Help develop and implement the department’s strategy to align with the company’s goals.
  • Create a “Centre of Excellence” to balance technical knowledge with the needs of our stakeholders.
  • Monitor productivity and ensure the team meets its targets.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management.

2. Functional Leadership

  • Oversee various projects and programs to ensure they are finished on time and within budget.
  • Manage and resolve any challenges or queries from stakeholders quickly and professionally.
  • Build and maintain networks with regional, national, and international partners.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve our processes and business operations.

3. Risk and Compliance

  • Identify and manage potential risks, including fraud prevention and quality control.
  • Ensure all activities follow government regulations and internal policies.
  • Work with auditors and regulatory bodies to maintain high standards of transparency.

4. Financial and People Management

  • Plan and manage the annual budget, ensuring money is spent wisely and differences are reported.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop your team to help them reach their full potential.
  • Encourage a culture of ethics, integrity, and continuous learning.
  • Manage performance and ensure the team remains focused on providing excellent service.

5. Relationship Building

  • Act as a bridge between SABS and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to protect the organization’s reputation.
  • Represent the SABS in various committees and task teams.
