About the WCED

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is responsible for early childhood development and primary and secondary schooling in the province. Our mission is to improve language and mathematics skills, boost matric results, and ensure all learners in our communities have access to quality education.

Position Overview

We are looking for a professional NSNP Coordinator to support the National School Nutrition Programme. The successful candidate will handle administrative duties, ensure policy compliance, and help manage the resources necessary to support learner health and education.

Requirements

  • A 3-year post-matric qualification (Degree or National Diploma).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in administration.
  • A valid Code B (manual) driver’s license or higher.

Required Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the SA Schools Act and the National Policy on School Nutrition Programmes.
  • Understanding of financial management, including budgeting and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Understanding of project planning, record management, and the Conditional Grant Framework.

Skills and Competencies

  • Policy Interpretation: Ability to understand and apply relevant government policies.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional report writing.
  • Technical Ability: Proficient in computer use and data management.
  • Organization: Highly organized with the ability to plan, evaluate, and think systematically.
  • Interpersonal: Strong ability to work well with others and maintain professional relationships.
