The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is a provincial government department responsible for providing essential public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape.

Requirements

  • Education: A degree or qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Registration: Current registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Driver’s License: A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
  • Flexibility: Must be willing to rotate within the sub-structure and perform relief duties when needed.

Experience Levels

The position is categorized into three grades based on your years of experience after registration with the HPCSA:

  • Grade 1: No experience required for South African qualified applicants. For foreign-qualified applicants, at least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (11 years for foreign-qualified applicants).
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience (21 years for foreign-qualified applicants).
