Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care to patients, ensuring all actions fall within your professional scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain operational readiness to respond to emergency calls quickly and efficiently.
- Provide high-quality patient care according to medical standards and protocols.
- Act as a professional representative of ER24, maintaining a positive public image.
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles are prepared for immediate use.
Requirements
Education:
- Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or a Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
- Preferred: Completion of training related to the Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Candidates not yet compliant will be required to complete this training during their probation period.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
- 1 year of Intermediate Life Support (ILS) experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of HPCSA guidelines and medical scope of practice.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of local travel routes, facilities, and the geographical area.
- Accuracy in completing Patient Report Forms.
