Requirements

  • A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • A Degree or Diploma in Nursing Administration or Management registered with SANC.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Nursing after registering as a Professional Nurse.
  • Basic computer literacy is considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Supervise and ensure effective patient care by leading the nursing team and maintaining high professional standards.
  • Coordination: Monitor nursing care plans, provide health education to patients, and assist in patient rehabilitation.
  • Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with staff and stakeholders. Help develop and implement nursing guidelines and procedures.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the proper use of human, financial, and physical resources within the unit.
  • Compliance: Ensure all nursing practices follow legal, ethical, and professional standards as determined by health authorities.
  • Team Leadership: Manage staff performance and time, advocate for patient rights, and follow the principles of Batho Pele.
  • Quality Improvement: Analyze reports to improve patient care quality and participate in research and training.
  • Flexibility: Work night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Be prepared to rotate shifts or relieve the Assistant Manager when necessary.
