Role Overview

We are seeking a professional and dedicated Operational Manager to lead our nursing team within the Vertical Transmission Program (VTP). The successful candidate will ensure excellent patient care, manage resources efficiently, and maintain high clinical standards.

Requirements

  • Qualification: A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing) that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Management Education: A Degree or Diploma in Nursing Management registered with SANC.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Specific experience in the Vertical Transmission Program (VTP) is required.
  • Registration: Current, valid registration with SANC.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, report writing, financial management, and project management skills. You should have excellent communication abilities and a deep understanding of the challenges within the public health sector.
  • Technology: Proficiency in computer use is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Supervise and coordinate effective nursing care plans to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the proper use of human, financial, and physical resources within the unit.
  • Standards & Quality: Ensure all nursing practices follow legal and ethical standards, including the Batho Pele principles and national health norms.
  • Team Management: Manage staff performance (PMDS), schedule shifts, and provide training and mentorship to subordinates.
  • Administration: Compile and analyze reports to improve service delivery and assist with hospital-wide management tasks as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to maintain a positive and professional working environment.

Additional Information

The candidate must be prepared to work shifts, including weekends, holidays, and night duty rotation when necessary. You may also be required to relieve the Assistant Manager when needed.
