Operational Manager Nursing (Specialty Unit: Orthopaedics)
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a dedicated Operational Manager for our Orthopaedics Specialty Unit. The department is responsible for providing essential public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape province.
Role Overview
As an Operational Manager, you will lead the nursing team in the Orthopaedics unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient ward management. This role requires a professional with strong leadership skills and specialized knowledge in orthopaedic nursing.
Requirements
- Education: A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- Specialization: A post-basic nursing qualification (at least 1 year) in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Orthopaedic Nursing, accredited by the SANC.
- Registration: Current registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency in computer use.
Experience Needed
- A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in nursing after registering as a Professional Nurse with the SANC.
- At least 5 years of this experience must be in the Orthopaedic specialty, earned after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification.

Work Conditions
Candidates must be willing and able to assist with hospital cover outside of standard hours. This includes working shifts, weekends, public holidays, night duty relief, and overtime when necessary.
