Job Opportunity: Operator (Active Box) – Piketberg

Bergrivier Municipality is seeking four dedicated individuals to join our team as Active Box Operators in Piketberg. We serve a community of over 56,000 people across several regions, including Velddrif, Porterville, and Piketberg, and we are committed to providing high-quality service and safety to all our residents.

Position Overview

Job Purpose

The primary role of the Operator is to manage computer equipment and monitor security systems. This includes watching internal CCTV, License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, and crime hotspot monitors. You will be responsible for identifying alarm activations and coordinating with Law Enforcement to ensure a quick and effective response.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • General computer literacy.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience.
  • Fluency in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages (English, Afrikaans, or Xhosa).
  • A clean criminal record.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks.

  • Manage control room operations and maintain radio communication.
  • Perform continuous monitoring of CCTV and LPR camera systems.
  • Complete incident reports, statutory logs, and official registers.
  • Assist with basic maintenance of monitoring equipment.
  • Contribute to the municipality’s overall service delivery goals and performance management systems.
