Role Purpose

The primary goal of this role is to maximize the value of assets under our management. You will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of investments, monitoring their progress, and implementing strategies to drive high performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Strategy: Create and carry out management plans for portfolio companies.
  • Asset Management: Handle complex actions such as restructuring, debt conversion, and follow-on investments to protect and grow asset value.
  • Relationship Management: Build strong professional relationships with investee companies and stakeholders through regular visits and clear communication.
  • Performance Monitoring: Review financial statements and management reports to track investment health and compliance.
  • Exit Planning: Design and execute successful exit strategies for investment companies.
  • Risk Oversight: Identify early warning signs in investments and take corrective action quickly.
  • Research: Keep up with industry trends and sectoral changes to find new opportunities or identify potential risks.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or Law.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in unlisted investments (either in deal-making or advisory roles).
  • Proven experience in investment analysis and financial modeling.
  • FAIS RE 05 Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • CA (South Africa) or CFA designation.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of credit risk and investment assessment.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience in deal structuring for debt, equity, or quasi-equity.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Knowledge of post-investment management for unlisted assets.

  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
