Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant – Kyalami, Midrand

Dis-Chem Pharmacies, established in 1978, is South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer. We are currently seeking a professional Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for our store in Kyalami, Midrand. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care and meeting the medicine-related needs of our patients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
  • Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Proven experience working with the Unisolv system
  • Computer literacy, specifically in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent command of English (a second language is beneficial)
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous Skills

  • Previous experience in Retail or FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting systems
  • Experience in drug and family planning or complementary medicine
  • Fluency in a third language

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale and distribution of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
  • Prepare, compound, and label non-sterile medications according to approved formulas and standard procedures.
  • Accurately read and interpret prescriptions, ensuring all details are correctly captured on the system.
  • Pick, pack, and label medication while checking for potential drug interactions or dosage errors.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding the correct use of their medication.
  • Manage medical aid claims, including processing paperwork, correcting rejected scripts, and obtaining authorisations for chronic medication.
  • Assist with stock management, including ordering, receiving, and performing bi-annual stock takes.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service at the dispensary and front-shop.
