Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant – Thatchfield, Centurion
Dis-Chem Pharmacies, South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer since 1978, is looking for a professional and dedicated Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join our team at the Thatchfield store in Centurion. In this role, you will take responsibility for meeting patient medicine needs and providing high-quality pharmaceutical care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale and distribution of Schedule 1 through Schedule 5 medicines.
- Help with the compounding, preparation, and packaging of non-sterile medicines according to standard operating procedures.
- Manage and control stock levels, including ordering medicines up to Schedule 6 under authorized supervision.
- Accurately read and prepare prescriptions, ensuring correct labeling and supply of medication.
- Capture patient and script details into the system and verify all information for accuracy.
- Provide clear instructions to patients on how to use their medication correctly.
- Assist with medical aid claims, processing paperwork, and resolving rejected scripts.
- Support the dispensary manager with stock takes, stock errors, and maintaining the “First Expiry, First Out” (FEFO) system.
- Maintain professional standards and follow all South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Practical experience using the Unisolv system.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in English and at least one other official language.
- Willingness to work retail hours.
Bonus Skills (Advantageous)
- Experience in Retail or FMCG environments.
- Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting systems.
- Experience with drug and family planning or complementary medicines.
- Ability to speak a third language.
