We are looking for a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as an Admin Clerk / Receptionist at Pretoria East General Hospital. This is a permanent role based in Pretoria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and distribute samples according to standard operating procedures, ensuring they reach the correct laboratories or sites.
  • Log sample registrations and handle queries following established procedures.
  • Dispatch specimens for processing, monitor progress, file reports, and manage queries and report delivery within the required turnaround time.
  • Conduct hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect samples for processing, following relevant procedures.
  • Handle administrative queries and customer complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Track courier delivery of samples to confirm they are received, processed, and results returned on time.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in pre‑analytical laboratory processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, preparing equipment as required.
  • Monitor stock levels, order additional supplies, and deliver stock to doctors’ rooms.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and ethical conduct when interacting with medical staff and patients.
  • Manage the reception area, provide information, and direct clients to the appropriate departments while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Collect cash from patients and bank it according to standard procedures.
  • Report incidents, log customer complaints, and record tasks in the laboratory information management system in line with policy.
  • Prepare and scan patient forms onto the laboratory scanning system (Oculus) and resolve scanning issues.
  • Adhere to Lancet uniform protocols and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a relevant NQF Level 4 qualification. A BSc degree is an advantage.
  • 0–1 year of relevant working experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Knowledge of organisational policies and procedures.
