About the Position
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking dedicated Professional Nurses to join our team. This role focuses on General Nursing within Wellness and Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) services. We provide essential public healthcare to the Western Cape community and are looking for individuals committed to service excellence.
Requirements
- Education: A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification.
- Professional Registration: Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- License: A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
- Flexibility: You must be willing to work at various facilities within the sub-district, including mobile clinics, as needed.
Experience Levels
The position is categorized into three grades based on your professional experience after registering with the SANC:
- Grade 1: No experience required after registration as a Professional Nurse.
- Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration.
- Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication skills for engaging with the community and health stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant health legislation and policies, including Health Care 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills specifically for Community Health Care programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
