Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Professional Nurse to join our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The successful candidate will provide specialized care to patients with life-threatening conditions. Your primary goal will be to stabilize patients, manage complex medical needs, and ensure every patient receives ethical and effective treatment in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized Care: Deliver expert nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
  • Patient Monitoring: Continuously assess vital signs and lab results, responding quickly to any changes in a patient’s condition.
  • Treatment: Administer medications and therapeutic treatments safely, following all SANC regulations.
  • Equipment Management: Operate advanced life-support systems, including ventilators and dialysis machines.
  • Collaboration: Work with doctors and other healthcare professionals to create and follow individual care plans.
  • Support: Provide emotional support and updates to patients and their families.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patient care.
  • Safety: Follow strict infection control and hospital safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of clinical experience in an ICU setting.
  • An ICU Nursing qualification is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to make clinical decisions and handle emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to work day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Willingness to assist in other hospital departments when necessary.
