Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Professional Nurse to join our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The successful candidate will provide specialized care to patients with life-threatening conditions. Your primary goal will be to stabilize patients, manage complex medical needs, and ensure every patient receives ethical and effective treatment in a high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialized Care: Deliver expert nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously assess vital signs and lab results, responding quickly to any changes in a patient’s condition.
- Treatment: Administer medications and therapeutic treatments safely, following all SANC regulations.
- Equipment Management: Operate advanced life-support systems, including ventilators and dialysis machines.
- Collaboration: Work with doctors and other healthcare professionals to create and follow individual care plans.
- Support: Provide emotional support and updates to patients and their families.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patient care.
- Safety: Follow strict infection control and hospital safety protocols.
Requirements
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of clinical experience in an ICU setting.
- An ICU Nursing qualification is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to make clinical decisions and handle emergency situations.
- Flexibility to work day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Willingness to assist in other hospital departments when necessary.
