Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A three-year tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, or a related GIS field.
- At least five years of professional experience in Geomatics, Geospatial data, or GIS.
- Professional registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) is considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
As a Professional Officer, your primary duties will include:
- Supporting departments with 3D building modeling, digital elevation models, and remote sensing data.
- Managing and sharing geospatial data in compliance with the Spatial Data Infrastructure Act.
- Coordinating geospatial projects to ensure all information is accurately processed and distributed.
- Assisting with the management of technical geospatial tenders and contracts.
- Updating and maintaining geospatial data layers and metadata to ensure consistency.
- Standardizing data from various formats and ensuring high levels of accuracy.
- Providing expert geospatial advice and analysis to City departments and the public.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest geospatial software and industry technologies.
- Ensuring all work complies with official data standards and supporting the use of new remote sensing tools.
