Project Manager: Senior Professional Officer (3-Year Contract)

The City of Cape Town is looking for a skilled Project Manager to join our Human Settlements Directorate. This role is vital for managing residential township developments and infrastructure projects that help our city grow and thrive.

Minimum Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a Built Environment field (e.g., Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture).
  • Eligibility for professional registration with a recognized council (SACPCMP registration is highly preferred).
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience, specifically in residential township development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination: Lead the implementation of project plans and report on progress, timelines, and spending within the Human Settlements Directorate.
  • Contract Management: Provide management support for strategic housing programs in line with national standards.
  • Construction Oversight: Manage the building of infrastructure and housing structures during the development phase.
  • Consultant Management: Direct and manage external consultants to ensure all designs and construction work meet city expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and guide subordinates to ensure the team has the skills and capacity to deliver high-quality service.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with official management policies and the Archive Act.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for internal teams and external partners.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify financial and operational risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
