Job Overview
As a laboratory intern, you will support the daily operations of the lab, including data collection, equipment calibration, and routine quality tests. You will also help investigate any out‑of‑spec results and suggest corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and collate data during shifts for reporting.
- Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
- Perform routine analytical and product quality tests, including in‑market testing.
- Investigate out‑of‑spec results and implement corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot problems to improve quality and data accuracy.
- Provide feedback to frontline staff on opportunities and corrective actions.
- Complete and communicate all data reports.
- Conduct allergen swabbing and manage foreign‑object and customer‑complaint issues.
- Maintain and calibrate all lab equipment.
- Control stock requirements and manage on‑hold, rejected, and released stock.
- Audit documentation and analyze data.
- Lead laboratory‑specific projects and coordinate quality‑system improvement projects.
- Monitor HACCP and ensure AIB, food safety, and quality standards are met.
- Prepare for and support internal ASHA lab audits and external ASHA audits.
- Assist with FSSC 22000 and AIB audits.
- Support trials, commissioning, and new projects.
- Attend production meetings.
- Help with lab training, especially practical training.
Qualifications
- Matric plus a Food Technology Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Computer literate.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
