Job Summary

Africa’s leading specialist in premium knitted and woven mattress fabric is looking for a Draughtsman Intern. You will work closely with the Manufacturing Process Engineer and help turn design ideas into detailed drawings that guide our production line.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update technical drawings using CAD software.
• Translate sketches, specifications and design briefs into accurate plans for factory layouts, floor plans and equipment arrangements.
• Ensure all drawings meet engineering and safety standards.
• Maintain drawing files with proper version control and documentation.
• Prepare 2‑D and 3‑D drawings for presentations.
• Participate in project and production meetings to support the team.
• Help analyse space usage and optimise layout based on process flow.
• Contribute to engineering improvement projects.
• Assist with data collection on the production floor.
• Support Lean initiatives such as 5S, waste reduction and Kaizen.

Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, cloud‑based platforms, Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook is an advantage.
