Retail Assistant Manager – Cape Town (Northern Suburbs)

We take pride in making life delicious for our customers and are looking for a dedicated Retail Assistant Manager to join our team in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.
Role Overview
This is a full-time position for an experienced retail professional. You will support the store manager in daily operations, staff management, and ensuring our customers receive the best possible service.
Job Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 is mandatory. A Diploma or Degree in Retail or Business management is a plus.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a retail environment, with specific experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stock & Inventory Management
- Order stock from factories and suppliers and follow up on deliveries.
- Check deliveries for accuracy and report any damages or missing items.
- Use the Meat Matrix system to capture stock data.
- Monitor stock levels daily to prevent shortages or excessive waste.
2. Store Operations & Housekeeping
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the store, including floors, chillers, and food preparation areas.
- Ensure the store follows all health and safety (HACCP and OHSA) regulations.
- Organize attractive product displays and manage shelf arrangements to encourage sales.
3. Staff Management
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training new employees.
- Manage staff performance, motivation, and workplace discipline.
- Oversee staff schedules and attendance using the clocking system.
4. Financial & Cash Control
- Oversee daily cash-ups and minimize cash losses.
- Manage safe security and cash movements within the store.
- Monitor ATM cash levels where applicable.
5. Customer Service
- Ensure every customer has a positive shopping experience.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
- Analyze shopping patterns to help improve store offerings and build brand loyalty.
6. Security & Administration
- Monitor CCTV cameras and manage the store alarm system.
- Coordinate with security guards to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
