Retail Assistant Manager – Cape Town (Northern Suburbs)

We take pride in making life delicious for our customers and are looking for a dedicated Retail Assistant Manager to join our team in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Role Overview

This is a full-time position for an experienced retail professional. You will support the store manager in daily operations, staff management, and ensuring our customers receive the best possible service.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 is mandatory. A Diploma or Degree in Retail or Business management is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a retail environment, with specific experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Stock & Inventory Management

  • Order stock from factories and suppliers and follow up on deliveries.
  • Check deliveries for accuracy and report any damages or missing items.
  • Use the Meat Matrix system to capture stock data.
  • Monitor stock levels daily to prevent shortages or excessive waste.

2. Store Operations & Housekeeping

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the store, including floors, chillers, and food preparation areas.
  • Ensure the store follows all health and safety (HACCP and OHSA) regulations.
  • Organize attractive product displays and manage shelf arrangements to encourage sales.

3. Staff Management

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training new employees.
  • Manage staff performance, motivation, and workplace discipline.
  • Oversee staff schedules and attendance using the clocking system.

4. Financial & Cash Control

  • Oversee daily cash-ups and minimize cash losses.
  • Manage safe security and cash movements within the store.
  • Monitor ATM cash levels where applicable.

5. Customer Service

  • Ensure every customer has a positive shopping experience.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Analyze shopping patterns to help improve store offerings and build brand loyalty.

6. Security & Administration

  • Monitor CCTV cameras and manage the store alarm system.
  • Coordinate with security guards to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
