Retail Store Assistant – Bayside Mall

Dis-Chem Pharmacies, South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer, is looking for a motivated Retail Store Assistant to join our team at the Bayside Mall branch in Cape Town. Since 1978, Dis-Chem has grown from a small pharmacy into a nationally recognized brand. We are looking for a dedicated individual to help us maintain our high standards of service and operational excellence.

Role Overview

The main purpose of this position is to assist with the daily management of the store. You will ensure that all operational and administrative tasks are completed according to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Build professional relationships with customers, handle queries or complaints effectively, and ensure everyone receives high-quality service.
• Point of Sale: Manage daily cash requirements, handle refunds and returns, and ensure all “shorts and overs” at the registers are correctly reported.
• Stock & Inventory: Assist the Receiving Manager with deliveries and invoices. Log claims for the Distribution Centre and ensure high-risk stock is properly managed and secured.
• Administration: Maintain accurate document control for petty cash and floats. Prepare daily reconciliations and ensure the branch has enough change for daily operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Previous experience in a retail environment.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Experience with SAP software is an advantage.
• South African citizenship with a clear criminal and credit record.
• A valid driver’s license or access to reliable transport.
