Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A relevant Degree or National Diploma in Sport Management Sciences or Behavioral Sciences.
- Successful completion of the Corrections Science learnership, Basic Training, or Induction Training Course (ITC).
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience at a production post level (CB2).
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in basic computer use.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee the following areas:
1. Library and Administration
- Supervise the prison library and manage systems for issuing and receiving books and periodicals.
- Coordinate the acquisition of new reading materials.
2. Arts, Culture, and Sports
- Manage cultural activities, including the establishment of concert groups and offender choirs.
- Organize and manage various sporting codes and recreation activities.
- Provide information and training to participants in these programs.
3. Offender Development and Treatment
- Ensure offenders have access to social work sessions and educational programs.
- Support the general rehabilitation and treatment of inmates.
4. Security and Safety
- Maintain safe custody and conduct searches of venues and offenders for contraband.
- Ensure all dangerous objects or prohibited items are removed and stored securely.
5. Resource Management
- Manage human resources (staff supervision), departmental finances, and physical assets.
