Position Overview
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, located in the Ugu District of KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a qualified Security Officer to join the Aviation Services Unit. The successful candidate will ensure that all airport security protocols and national regulations are strictly followed to maintain a safe environment.
Compensation
Salary: R 356,209.08 – R 462,394.08 per year (excluding benefits).
Job Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric / NQF Level 4).
- Certifications: Aviation Security Training (AVSEC) certificate and Airside Induction/Familiarization Training certificate.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation security.
- Driver’s License: Valid Code EB license.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Background: No criminal record; candidates will undergo security vetting.
- Additional Assets: An Aviation Dangerous Goods certificate is considered an advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of airport access control procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage security protocols for both landside and airside operations as regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Primary Responsibilities
- Enforce Civil Aviation Authority legislation within designated airport areas.
- Implement and monitor safety and security systems to regulate daily aviation practices.
- Ensure the airport security programme is established, maintained, and compliant with national standards.
- Conduct risk analysis, internal investigations, and planning duties.
- Collect and analyze data to support internal and external audits and inspections.
- Maintain and update safety manuals, aerodrome programs, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead aviation security awareness training and present internal training sessions when needed.
