Requirements
To qualify for these roles, candidates must possess a Matric/Grade 12 certificate and have successfully completed the Correctional Science Learnership, Basic Training, or Induction Training Course (ITC).
- CB1-1: This is an entry-level grade. No previous experience is required.
- CB1-2: Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience at the CB1-1 level.
- CB1-3: Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience at the CB1-2 level.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and rehabilitation standards of the correctional facility. Primary duties include:
- Managing access control at various points within the correctional center.
- Monitoring and controlling the movement of inmates internally and during external transport.
- Guarding inmates within the facility and at external public institutions.
- Conducting regular physical security inspections to ensure safety.
- Managing security equipment and department stores.
- Operating the security control room.
- Supporting the rehabilitation of offenders by maintaining a secure and humane detention environment.
