About the Department

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is responsible for managing South Africa’s court system and providing legal services to the government. We work to ensure that the judiciary remains independent while providing the necessary administrative and financial support to uphold the law.

Job Overview

As a Senior Assistant State Attorney, you will handle legal matters on behalf of the state. This role requires a professional with a strong background in litigation, a deep understanding of the South African Constitution, and the ability to manage complex legal cases efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

  • An LLB degree or a recognized 4-year legal qualification.
  • At least four years of post-qualification experience in legal practice or litigation.
  • Must be an Admitted Attorney.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal practices, office management, and trust accounts.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and the South African Constitution.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in conveyancing is considered an added advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in computer software and legal research tools.
  • Strong legal drafting and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Experience in dispute resolution and case flow management.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
