Key Performance Responsibilities
As the Senior Biodiversity Mainstreaming Officer, you will play a vital role in integrating environmental management into regional strategies. Your core duties will include:
- Providing advice on policy and legislative solutions to ensure that ecological infrastructure is included in disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR) interventions across four District Municipalities.
- Facilitating communication and engagement between SANBI and other stakeholders regarding environmental and regulatory advice.
- Supporting capacity-building programs for district officials to help them include biodiversity priorities in their work.
- Conducting baseline assessments of current risk management frameworks and tools for both natural and built infrastructure in the targeted districts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Environmental Management, Town and Regional Planning, or an equivalent qualification.
- Advanced Education: A Post-graduate qualification (NQF 8) in a related field is a strong advantage.
- Experience: At least 4 years of professional experience in environmental management, municipal support, capacity building, and ecological infrastructure mainstreaming.
