Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 certificate (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in horticulture or environmental fields.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass the internal Rand Water K53 driving test.
Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Gardener will oversee a wide range of grounds-keeping tasks and lead a small team. Key duties include:
- Performing all standard gardening tasks and operating specialized machinery.
- Maintaining and laying out professional recreation facilities, such as cricket pitches, bowling greens, and golf courses.
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems.
- Safely applying fertilizers and chemicals to ensure plant health.
- Leading assigned staff and providing them with clear daily instructions.
- Managing small landscape construction projects and specialized garden maintenance.
- Caring for indoor plants, including feeding and watering.
- Conducting regular stock takes and managing gardening assets.
