Senior Labour Relations

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is a South African government department dedicated to investigating complaints against the South African Police Service and municipal police services. Formed in 1997, the IPID plays a vital role in ensuring police accountability and reform.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Human Resource Management or Labour Relations.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Three to five years of professional experience specifically within a labour relations environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will manage various aspects of workplace relations and departmental discipline. Main duties include:

Case Management and Dispute Resolution

  • Handle all grievances and misconduct cases within the department.
  • Represent the department at dispute resolution forums, including the CCMA, GPSSBC, and PSCBC.
  • Advise both management and employees on labour-related matters to ensure discipline and workplace peace.

Policy and Compliance

  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing labour relations policies.
  • Provide expert guidance on compliance with labour laws, departmental policies, and collective agreements.

Training and Development

  • Conduct training sessions for employees, supervisors, and managers regarding labour relations.
  • Lead awareness programs on disciplinary processes, grievance procedures, and current labour legislation.

Collective Bargaining and Stakeholder Relations

  • Coordinate and manage Departmental Bargaining Chamber (DBC) meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Facilitate clear communication between labour unions and management to promote organizational stability.

Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate case management records and databases.
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on labour relations activities.
