Senior Manager: Eastern Cape Business Unit
The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) is a constitutional institution that supports South African democracy by auditing and reporting on how the government spends public money. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Manager to lead our Eastern Cape Business Unit.
Role Overview
The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of audits. You will lead multiple teams through the entire audit process—from planning and execution to final reporting. Your goal is to ensure that all audits are high-quality, add value, and comply with all legal and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Audit and Product Management
- Take full responsibility for the planning, execution, and reporting of audits within agreed timelines.
- Direct audit engagements and review the work of audit teams to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Sign audit reports based on delegated authority.
- Monitor the status of records for your assigned portfolio.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with auditees to understand their business needs.
- Communicate audit outcomes and recommendations to key stakeholders and management.
- Resolve challenges and provide expert advice to improve financial processes.
People Leadership
- Manage team performance and productivity.
- Coach and mentor staff to help them reach their full potential.
- Promote a positive organizational culture and assist in attracting new talent.
- Support the administration of the training office.
Financial and Operational Management
- Compile and manage the budget for your audit portfolio.
- Monitor costs and ensure timely collection from debtors.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and supply chain processes.
- Perform risk assessments for the business unit.
Requirements
- Qualifications: You must be a Chartered Accountant CA(SA), Registered Government Auditor (RGA), or hold an ACCA qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience. At least 4 of these years must be at an Audit Manager or Technical Manager level.
- Expertise: Strong focus and background in Accounting and Auditing.
