About the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
SARS is the national tax collection authority for South Africa. Established as an autonomous agency, we manage the country’s tax system and customs services. Our primary role is to collect the revenue needed to help the nation grow and function effectively.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will provide expert advice and technical support to improve business practices. You will ensure that SARS software, systems, and technologies remain sustainable and efficient. Your goal is to integrate these systems within the Enterprise Architecture to minimize business risk and support long-term tactical goals.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Option 1: A B. Tech in Computer Systems plus 8 to 10 years of experience in IBM Integration Software Development (or similar software), including at least 3 to 4 years at a junior specialist level.
- Option 2: A relevant IT Qualification or Certification plus 8 to 10 years of experience in IBM Integration Software Development, including 3 to 4 years at a junior specialist level.
- Option 3: A Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 15 years of experience in IBM Integration Software Development, including 3 to 4 years at a junior specialist level.
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Process Management:
- Analyze specialist systems and recommend improvements to procedures and practices.
- Identify technical problems and recommend effective tactical solutions.
- Produce detailed reports to identify trends and inconsistencies for better decision-making.
- Plan and implement continuous improvements to systems and processes.
- Support project teams with expertise in infrastructure, architecture, data design, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the IT environment.
- Design and manage all integration and development activities for the business portfolio.
Governance and Finance:
- Align practice areas with governance and compliance policies to manage risk.
- Monitor financial controls and manage costs within your area of specialization.
People and Collaboration:
- Share technical knowledge and mentor others through formal and informal learning.
- Provide authoritative advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Build a culture of service excellence within the team.
