Job Opportunity: Service Consultant (6 Positions)

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the national authority responsible for collecting taxes and managing customs. SARS is looking for six professional Service Consultants to join their team. This role is essential for helping taxpayers meet their obligations and ensuring excellent service delivery across the country.

Role Purpose

As a Service Consultant, you will manage customer requests regarding various tax products. You will communicate with taxpayers through multiple channels to resolve queries, update profiles, and provide education on tax compliance. Your goal is to ensure a seamless and helpful experience for every citizen and business you interact with.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound customer inquiries through email, digital platforms, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Assist with taxpayer registrations, profile updates, and de-registrations.
  • Resolve account queries related to outstanding payments, penalties, and interest.
  • Process and distribute official documentation to the correct internal departments.
  • Help taxpayers understand their tax responsibilities to improve overall compliance.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency in all administrative tasks.
  • Follow all SARS policies and government regulations to ensure data security and transparency.

Requirements

  • Education: A Grade 12 Senior Certificate (NQF 4).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service environment.
  • Knowledge: A basic understanding of various tax types, specifically Personal Income Tax (PIT). Knowledge of Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Dividends, and Estate Duty is an advantage.
