Shop Assistant (Tyger Valley)
Toys R Us and Babies R Us South Africa is the continent’s favorite toy and baby store, with over 50 locations. We are currently looking for a motivated Shop Assistant to join our Tyger Valley team in Cape Town.
Role Purpose
The primary goal of this position is to maximize sales by delivering excellent customer service and ensuring every visitor has a positive, memorable shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful service to every customer, addressing their unique needs and prioritizing their satisfaction both in-person and over the phone.
- Sales & Product Advice: Advise customers on product ranges, prices, and warranties. Demonstrate how products work and suggest additional items or services to meet customer needs.
- Merchandising: Ensure all products are correctly priced and neatly displayed. Set up promotional displays on time and maintain high standards of store housekeeping.
- Stock Management: Participate in regular stock takes and counts. Help minimize stock loss and monitor which items are selling quickly or slowly to report back to management.
- Operations: Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintain confidentiality, and participate in mandatory training and performance reviews.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Education: A valid Matric Certificate is required.
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a retail environment.
- Transport: Must have reliable transport to accommodate various shifts.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Drive: Highly motivated, target-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical: Basic understanding of merchandising and retail sales techniques.
