About the Position
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is looking for dedicated Social Workers to join our team. These roles are responsible for providing essential clinical social work services within a specialist acute healthcare setting. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support patients and their families.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: An appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
- Registration: Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience Requirements
The grade and salary level will be determined by your years of experience after registering with the SACSSP:
- Grade 1: No experience required after registration.
- Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate experience.
- Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate experience.
- Grade 4: At least 30 years of appropriate experience.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Ability to provide clinical social work services in a specialist healthcare environment.
- Strong assessment and counseling skills for individuals and families.
- Specific knowledge or experience in neonatology.
- Sound knowledge of the Child Care Act and relevant statutory processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
