The Role
As a Special Workman, you will support the Electrical Supervisor with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This role involves working on medium and low-voltage networks and ensuring that the electrical infrastructure of our municipality remains in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and report on the condition of electrical systems and support structures.
- Assist with the construction and installation of medium and low-voltage networks.
- Maintain and repair electrical reticulation and street lighting systems.
- Coordinate team tasks and ensure high productivity and discipline on-site.
- Follow all Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in the municipality’s performance management and development programs.
Requirements
- Education: You should be studying toward a trade certificate or have at least one year of relevant experience.
- Experience: Minimum of one year in electrical work.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code EC driving license with Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Languages: Proficiency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, or Xhosa).
- Physical Fitness: You must be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime and handle emergency calls outside of normal working hours.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to work well with others.
