About the Company

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the national tax authority responsible for administering the South African tax system and customs service. SARS ensures the collection of national taxes, duties, and levies to support the country’s growth and development.

Job Purpose

This role provides expert technical advice and support for complex SAP systems. You will analyze requirements, configure systems, and implement SAP modules to improve service delivery. Using your technical knowledge and SAP experience, you will help integrate SAP technology into the business environment to achieve efficient results.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Option 1: A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or Software Engineering, plus 5–7 years of experience in a financial environment (with 2–3 years at a technical level).
  • Option 2: A Senior Certificate (Matric/NQF 4) with 10 years of related experience, including 2–3 years at a technical level.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong experience in SAP FICA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable).
  • Ability to maintain IT and SAP FICA solutions and configurations.
  • Experience monitoring systems, identifying defects, and testing fixes.
  • Ability to analyze sub-ledger accounts and fix discrepancies between different systems.
  • Knowledge of integration points between various SAP modules.
  • Experience with SAP GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) and troubleshooting authorization issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to create system specifications and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, technical reviews, and analysis of source code.
  • Ensure all new or modified applications are thoroughly tested and documented before production.
  • Optimize system performance and ensure business processes remain reliable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and reduce risks.
  • Apply organizational policies and legislation to all work outputs.
  • Maintain and implement standards for system development and procedures.
  • Build productive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
