Position Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking General Worker to join our team in Rosebank. The role involves a variety of tasks that support the day‑to‑day operations of our Garden Centre and loading bay.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with watering plants as needed.
- Repack and restock stock.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Garden Centre, sales floor, parking lot, exterior verge and general work areas.
- Keep guttering and storm water drainage channels clean.
- Sweep and blow allocated areas of the Garden Centre and surroundings.
- Support general care of all nursery stock.
- Help with housekeeping of the loading bay and its exterior.
- Assist loading bay staff with offloading, pricing stock and moving stock to the sales floor.
- Help load goods for deliveries and accompany the driver when required.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and tidy.
- Perform basic painting, touch‑ups and upkeep of fences, pots, benches, signage and other fixtures.
- Support small maintenance tasks such as repairing or tightening shelves, brackets, taps or minor structural items.
- Assist with setting up, moving or refurbishing display areas and garden features.
- Maintain tool and equipment storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Participate in the seasonal preparation of the nursery area, including shade netting, plant beds, misting systems and irrigation points.
- Report any hazards or maintenance issues to the Supervisor or Manager promptly.
Requirements
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (essential).
- Reliable transport to Rosebank, Cape Town.
- Availability to work over weekends and public holidays.
- Comfortable with heights and able to climb a ladder.
- Experience in maintenance is beneficial.
