Job Summary
The Stope Serviceman works in operational stopes and development ends to maintain machinery and equipment for production. The role supports the Engineering Foreman/Artisan and ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from Engineering Foreman/Artisan.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out necessary repairs.
- Request equipment and stock requisitions.
- Complete job cards, detailing work performed and spares used.
- Disassemble, repair, re‑assemble, and install equipment.
- Report malfunctions to Engineering Foreman/Artisan.
- Adhere to maintenance and breakdown schedules.
- Ensure all required tools, materials, and spares are available.
- Communicate unexpected problems to engineering personnel.
- Maintain effective two‑way communication with team members.
- Report to Engineering Foreman/Artisan when tasks are complete.
- Assist and support Engineering Foreman/Artisan during inspections.
- Promote safety awareness and identify unsafe practices.
- Work outside normal hours when required.
- Compile accurate shift and work order reports.
- Sign off allocated work orders.
- Participate in meetings.
- Compile safety, injury, risk, and incident reports.
- Assist during breakdowns or emergencies.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 in Maths and Natural Science.
- Certified Competent as Stope Serviceman (UG hard rock).
Experience
Minimum 18 months of experience as an Engineering Repairperson in a multi‑discipline role.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Multi‑disciplined engineering knowledge.
- Completion of discipline‑specific training for Engineering Repairperson.
