Store Assistant Manager – De Drift, Veldrif (New Store)
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer. Founded in 1978, we have grown from a small pharmacy into a nationwide success. We are now looking for a professional and motivated Store Assistant Manager to join our team at our new store in Veldrif.
Job Overview
As the Store Assistant Manager, you will support the Store Manager in the daily operations of the branch. Your role involves managing employees, hitting store targets, and ensuring that inventory levels meet customer demand. You will also be responsible for reporting on store performance and maintaining high standards of service.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Retail or FMCG, with knowledge of receiving, administration, cash office, and sales floor management.
- Leadership: Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: At least 2 years of experience using Unisolv, SAP, or Qlikview. Previous experience with Kronos is required.
- Advantageous: A relevant qualification in Retail or FMCG management.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily human resource tasks, including staff scheduling and leave administration.
- Oversee staff performance and support personal development plans.
- Manage daily stock orders to ensure the store is always well-supplied.
- Coordinate biannual stock takes and monitor stock flow to the shop floor.
- Implement strategies to reduce stock shrinkage.
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure a high level of customer service.
- Maintain Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards, including correct pricing, labeling, and display layouts.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Strong background in retail administration and management.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Basic financial knowledge, including understanding GP, mark-ups, and VAT.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent time management and analytical skills.
- Honest, trustworthy, and reliable.
Special Conditions
- Must be willing to work retail hours (weekends and public holidays).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transport for local travel.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have a clear credit and criminal record.
