Job Opportunity: Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver
Unitrans is a leading provider of supply chain solutions, including transportation, warehousing, and logistics. We are currently looking for a professional and experienced Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to join our team in Rustenburg, North West.
Role Overview
As an Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring that goods are transported and delivered efficiently while adhering to all safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate preferred (Minimum Grade 10 literacy).
- License: Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP/DGP).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience driving Ultra-Heavy Vehicles.
- Age: Must be 25 years of age or older.
- Records: A clean criminal record and a safe driving history.
- Availability: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate ultra-heavy vehicles for loading, transporting, and offloading goods.
- Ensure all loads are secured properly before departure and manage tarpaulins when necessary.
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment.
- Complete all required documentation and delivery paperwork accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols at all times.
- Report any vehicle defects or emergencies immediately to the supervisor.
- Interact with customers in a professional and helpful manner.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Expertise in defensive driving techniques.
- Strong understanding of vehicle components and basic maintenance.
- Knowledge of vehicle loading techniques and weight distribution to prevent overloading.
- Ability to use fire extinguishers and handle emergency situations.
- Commitment to cost-effective and fuel-efficient driving.
Compliance and Evaluation
Successful candidates will be required to undergo the following:
- Medical evaluation to ensure fitness for duty.
- Practical driving evaluation.
- Verification of criminal record.
- Company induction and training modules.
