Water and Wastewater Reticulation Services Learnership
Rand Water, Africa’s largest water utility, is inviting applications for its Water and Wastewater Reticulation Services Learnership. This program is designed for young South Africans looking to gain practical experience and a formal qualification in the water sector.
Role Overview
This is a full-time learnership focused on the maintenance and operation of water distribution systems. Successful candidates will participate in both classroom-based learning and practical on-the-job training.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must currently be unemployed.
- You must not be enrolled in any other institution or registered in any other learnership program.
- Qualification: You must have a Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science (Minimum of Level 3 for both subjects).
- Note: You must not have any post-matric qualifications (diplomas or degrees). Failure to disclose this will lead to disqualification.
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
During the learnership, you will assist with the following tasks:
- Operating and maintaining water and wastewater systems.
- Installing and repairing water pipelines and sewer networks.
- Detecting and reporting leaks, blockages, and pipe bursts.
- Reading water meters and performing basic maintenance.
- Monitoring water pressure and flow throughout the system.
- Assisting with excavation, pipe laying, and site restoration.
- Inspecting valves, hydrants, and manholes.
- Attending all required classes and completing assignments, projects, and logbooks.
- Strictly adhering to health and safety procedures.
