Job Opportunity: Wood Assembler – Workshop Assistant
Spur Corporation is a leading multi-brand restaurant franchisor headquartered in Cape Town. We are looking for a skilled and reliable Wood Assembler to join our team in the Western Cape.
Role Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for assembling wooden furniture and components. You will work from technical drawings and follow set instructions to ensure all products meet our quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build wooden furniture and parts according to technical drawings and work orders.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Sand, join, glue, and finish wood pieces to a high standard.
- Inspect finished products for any defects or misalignments and make necessary repairs.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Report any equipment issues or material shortages to the supervisor.
- Accurately record production numbers and any defects found.
- Assist with the packaging and labeling of products for delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Previous experience in carpentry, furniture assembly, or woodworking is preferred.
- Knowledge of woodworking tools and assembly techniques.
- Basic understanding of safety practices and quality control in a production environment.
Skills Needed
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to read and understand assembly instructions or drawings.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving skills and a reliable, safety-conscious attitude.
Working Conditions
- You will work in a factory or workshop environment with exposure to wood dust and noise.
- The role involves standing for long periods and handling wooden materials.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks and safety glasses, is mandatory.
- Shift work or overtime may be required depending on production needs.
