The Pattern Making Programme (PMP) is a six‑month, industry‑focused internship designed to fill the critical shortage of skilled pattern makers in South Africa’s manufacturing sector. It blends classroom learning with hands‑on experience in real manufacturing settings, preparing graduates and final‑year students for immediate employment.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

  • South African citizen
  • Aged 18–33 years
  • Unemployed
  • No criminal record
  • Hold a diploma or degree, or be a final‑year student in one of the following fields:
    • Clothing Production
    • Fashion Design
    • Or a related qualification

Training Location

All training takes place in Durban, KwaZulu‑Natal. Applicants must be able to attend in‑person training for the full six months.
