GENERIC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Applicable to All Posts)
- Applicants must show competency in the specific functions of the post.
- Must hold a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) at least NQF 4.
- Must be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
- Must be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa (proof required).
- Must have a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal/departmental or civil cases.
- Must not have any visible tattoo marks when wearing a uniform.
- Applicants will undergo a vetting process that includes security screening and fingerprint verification.
ADDITIONAL POST REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a three‑year National Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (NQF level 6 or higher).
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate Technician is an advantage.
- Experience in the field of the post is an advantage.
- Skills Required: Computer literacy, problem solving, and project management.
- Must be competent in CAD ‘Revit’ and related software.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Provide civil and/or structural engineering services to SAPS for building and maintenance projects under professional supervision.
- Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction and maintenance sites.
- Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/Tender committee.
- Promote effective, efficient, and sustainable energy use in new and existing construction projects.
- Advise and inspect civil and structural engineering work on site.
- Provide advice and guidance to external consultants under professional supervision.

Conditions for Short‑Listed & Successful Candidates:
- Appointments are made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No 68 of 1995).
- Short‑listed candidates will undergo a personal interview.
- Successful applicants not yet appointed in terms of the SAPS Act will:
- Undergo a medical examination and may undergo a psychometric assessment.
- Must be found medically and psychologically fit.
- Comply with the SAPS Dress Order (no visible tattoos when in uniform).
- Be willing to undergo the prescribed Introductory Police Development Learning Programme.
- Vetting & Disclosure:
- Candidates for certain posts will be vetted against the National Register for Sex Offenders and the Child Protection Register. Appearance on these registers will lead to disqualification.
- Candidates must disclose if they are a respondent in an interim or final protection order under the Domestic Violence Act, 2018 or Protection from Harassment Act, 2011, and may be disqualified.
- As per the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013, all new appointees must provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample for a forensic DNA profile to be loaded to the National Forensic DNA Database.
